What's the max age of child for which you'd register for gifts?
Some people seem to just put newborn stuff on their registries. Others put items up through 8 or 9 months. Others have stuff up through potty training. Could you have items up through 3 or 4 years of age? At what point would you consider the item too old? Example would you be surprised offended if you saw any of the following on a baby registry? Gates for walking crawling babies?Potty training items?Child size table and chairs?Toys or educational items intended for a pre kindergartener? I guess my opinion is that if it's all for the kid not for the parents then it's fair game no matter when it will be used. What's your opinion?

Ideas for "activity" birthday gifts for 5 year old?
My daughter is turning 5 in March. I think we're getting her a trail a bike, but I'm looking for some other ideas. I don't want to buy her more useless toys that she doesn't play with, I want to do something with her. some ideas I had were horseback riding or private art lessons.Any other suggestions?Great ideas However no roller rink here. And it's winter here now too. She would LOVE the picnic, that is her favourite thing in the world and something we do frequently in the summer.I like the salon idea, but that leaves Daddy out.

What do you think of birthday parties where the kid doesn't open the gifts until after the party?
I went to one this weekend for a friend of my son, and his mother just piled up the presents brought, and then took them home unopened. This is the first time I have seen this and seemed a bit rude, however I am behind in the times I admit. Is this now in fashion? I may be selfish, but I spent a pretty penny on the kid's gift and my son was pretty excited to see his expression when he opened it. I know giving is unconditional, but the reaction to me is the best part.I guess I didn't think of that. We were at a park it is unusually warm here but we were there for almost 3 hours and we all kept waiting around for the gift opening, one other mother even saying... I am ready to go, I wish he would open his presents already lol Then next thing we know, she is cleaning up and leaving.

One of my friends is going to be having a baby. I am looking for some good gifts for her to use after she has the baby. Any suggestions? I already found some cute stuff for the baby and her older two children, but I think she should have a present for when she just needs to relax.

How do i know if my 20 month old is gifted?
I know it doesn't really matter but i am curious? My daughter turn 20 months last week, and I have always known she was intelligent and verbal but my son was the same way. They both started talking at about 9 months. I mean beyond Mama, any ways i always thought she was just like him. Recently i have noticed some difference. She is now speaking in 4 and 5 word sentences. I don't remember my son doing this. Also i have had several comments about her speech and abilities with puzzles. Yesterday at a baby group a book fell so she said " book fell" to the teacher. She immediately asked how old she was and said that was unusual for that age. Then another parent with a 19 month old her here speaking in sentences and said his daughter only said one word at a time. A friend has a 3.5 year old and it seems that she has more verbal ability than he does. My husband was amazed the other night, my daughter was in the living room with him and my son was playing in her room. She heard him taking apart her Lego's and said " My brother brake my toys" . My husband has 2 children from a previous marriage one of whom is gifted. He thinks she will be the same. I am asking here because I don't want to seem like i am bragging when i talk to other Moms but i do wonder if this is normal.

Clothing as a baby shower gift?
When it comes to a baby shower, how do you request that clothing gifts are from 1yr and up? My husband and I are purchasing clothes for the Newborn 1yr stage, and we don't want the guests to purchase a ton of clothing that our baby will grow out of quickly. We're not trying to be " gift grabby," in all sincerity. We just want the potential clothing gifts to be age practical so that they are not worn once or twice before they are too small. I understand that the guests are spending their money out of generosity, and I don't want to see it go to waste.
