How to tame a wild toddler at the doctor's office?
My 18 mos old son is super high energy and into everything more than most kids his age it seems. Normally this isn't a big deal, but I really need some advice for the doctor's office. We have to go a LOT because he gets a new ear infection every 4 days that he's not on antibiotics. We've tried the chiropractor and some other alternatives without success and now he's scheduled to get tubes in 2 weeks. The problem is how very stressed out I get at the doctor's office. He thinks its great fun, but he is constantly trying to get away, open doors, and take off running down the halls. He even tries to trick me into moving away from the door so that he can make a break for it. If he's not doing that then he is trying to push every button or open every cabinet or drawer and pull out or throw on the floor every item he can get his hands on. I've tried taking toys and even snacks, but he's a complete wild man in this new environment or maybe I haven't found the right ones. He goes to daycare where he plays all day and at home he frequently will just run and run up and down the halls, yelling the whole time. I can deal with the high energy at home no problem because I can contain him and there is little he can get into to hurt himself, but I feel almost traumatized after every doctor's visit and its really hard to remember anything the doctor has said because my mind is constantly on what he is doing. Any advice would be much appreciated.I dont know why I didn't think of the harness before we actually have one that i got for a airplane trip a few months ago. It had a layover both ways and I put it on him and let him run around the airport. It was great for helping him sleep while we were actually on the planes. I definitely will also try the puppet plan but i really only see that working for about 3 minutes tops right now. Dad was there this morning and he got just as crazy as me. My son is like this at home too, it just doesn't stress me out there, so I dont think it's us causing him to act this way. If he's awake and not super sick he's acting this way. Also, I would rather try all safe alternatives before submitting him to the risks involved with sedation, and I don't think chiropractors are all quacks. I was having constant headaches, nausea with occasional vomiting, and dizziness for 4 months a while back. All my other doctors basically told me I was normal and just dismissed me. I went to the chriopractor as a last resort and not only did she not dismiss me, all my symptoms were gone within a week. Don't knock it until you've tried it.

How do I deal with a spirited toddler?
I have a very high spirited 2 year old 27 months . I can't get her to sit down to read a book, play games, or potty train. If I try to put her on the potty myself she freaks. If I pick her up to sit her down to read a book she freaks. If I try to hug her she freaks. She isn't speaking all that well yet so it's even more difficult trying to communicate with her. I can't get her to sit long enough to try and teach her words and sounds because again if you try to sit her down or keep her attention she freaks. I'm loosing my mind and finding myself losing my temper at times. I don't want to yell at her but I get so frustrated trying to do things with her or trying to get her to try new things. I don't want to give up and just let her run wild and do as she pleases but I'm finding myself yelling all the time and just making it worse. I have a two month old as well so that makes it even more difficult to give her the time she needs. Anyone have any good suggestions to try and get her speaking and potty training? Everything I read says, " calmly expalin to them..." but she doesn't understand what I'm saying and just does as she pleases. Help Mom in crisis

Any ideas for toddler rooms.?
On so I have a 4 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. I'm moving into a 2 bedroom apartment. So I'm planning on putting them two together in one of the rooms. He has a toys story bed and she has a tinkle bell bed both blue. Different types of blue but both blue. The room I am placing them in, the walls are yellow. So my question is what color should I put to match both their beds a neutral color that fits them both. And no neither one of them can sleep with me since I have another 2 yer old daughter whose already going to be in the room with me. So any ideas anyone.?
Toddler bed issues? ((10 POINTS))?
My daughter is almost 17 months old and has had her toddler bed for 2 months. She did very well with it until recently. She has been piling covers in front of her door and sleeping there instead of the two bed choices she has in her room. This makes me very sad, and I am thinking of switching her from the day bed back to her crib so she isn't sleeping this way. Has anyone had this issue? If so any suggestions?
Toddlers love me but infants hate me...?
Every time I try and hold a baby it screams and cries at me. But toddlers wont leave me alone. I feel bad every time I hold a baby and it cries and screams at me. It makes me feel like I will be a crappy mother or something. It depresses me. I don't have kids yet but I would like to within the next 3 years. Is it normal to feel this worry before having children?
